An afternoon of panto fun

Well what can I say? Another year – another Richmond panto – and yes some may say the Richmond panto is inherently smug and annoying, I on the other hand love it and all that it stands for. It always kick-starts my Christmas and gets us ready for the countdown to festive fun. And this year was no exception. In fact dare I say this year was the funniest year ever.

The panto itself is Aladdin and the big star Christopher Biggins. Now dare I use the phrase ‘national treasure’? Hmmm I’m not sure. However he was brilliant. Brilliantly dressed, brilliantly enthusiastic and brilliantly funny. It was fun fun fun from start to finish – with a particularly impressive magic carpet scene (how did they make that bad boy fly?) although sadly no cheesy rendition of a Whole New World. We figure they couldn’t get the rights from Disney!

Anyway if you have time and if they have availability, I thoroughly recommend this year’s offering from Richmond Theatre.
